Yellow Ware Pottery
Between the 1830's and the 1940's yellow ware pottery was the most popular fixture in any sized kitchen al over America. Yellow ware ceramics are made using a clay that is found in the lining of riverbanks in the Northeast and Ohio Valley. Generally yellow ware pottery can stand up to very high temperatures and was used in the oven as well as out of the oven.
The way to distinguish real yellow ware stoneware and an imitation is by looking at the glaze. The glaze should be clear as the yellow colors comes from the clay not from the paint.
